Data Platform Team offers data analytics and reporting as a service to internal business, product, and operations teams. We build and operate a modern data platform and infrastructure, hosting all the data pipelines, lakes, warehouses, and analytical models. Every day, our system processes millions of data rows from diverse operational data sources, generating high-quality and trusted analytics models that power essential business reports, BI dashboards, and data-driven product features for internal and external users. About Engineering Manager role

We are currently seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our Data Platform Team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of communication, engaging both internal and external stakeholders to deeply understand their challenges and requirements. Your strategic acumen will be crucial in crafting a comprehensive team roadmap that not only addresses current business needs but also aligns with the overarching vision, encompassing upcoming data products, data-driven initiatives, and diverse reporting needs. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation of technical strategies aimed at enhancing data quality, scaling our platform, and fostering the growth and development of our talented team members. Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop the platform to support a high volume of transactions, handling tens of millions of transactions daily.

• Strategize improvements to our business rules engine, enhancing flexibility to accommodate future platform needs.

• Continuously enhance the architecture of our data workflows to ensure improved reliability, higher throughput, and enhanced observability.

• Collaborate with the DevOps team to optimize performance and memory requirements of transaction processing.

• Drive improvements in operational processes, monitoring, and tooling in collaboration with our Technology Operations team.

• Collaborate closely with client-facing solution architects to design implementations tailored to our customers' needs.

• Scope, architect, plan, and lead the implementation of new features outlined in the product roadmap.

• Serve as a role model for our engineers and employees, actively contributing to the grooming of the next generation of tech leaders.

• Play a key role in managing the entire data lifecycle, from acquisition and storage to processing, analysis, and eventual archiving or disposal, ensuring optimal efficiency and adherence to organizational data policies.

• Build robust tooling and features to support data reporting and export needs for our SaaS customers. Imagine building beautiful APIs to allow our customers to generate and pull reporting data, or building platform features to allow data in our warehouse to be synced to the customer's warehouse.

What we're looking for:

• Demonstrated expertise in software engineering, particularly in designing and implementing large-scale backend data processing systems.

• Experience in designing and building scalable data products or platforms on AWS or another cloud.

• Familiarity with modern ELT data engineering tools such as Airflow, dbt, Meltano, Kafka, Dagster, or similar.

• Experience with row-based and column-based databases or SQL engines, understanding their trade-offs e.g. Redshift, PostgreSQL, Trino, etc.

• Experience developing Python/Ruby library packages for internal teams, including best practices for development and deployment.

• Strong commitment to ensuring impeccable data quality and robust data governance practices in Production workloads

• Experience with analytical data modeling using analytics engineering tools such as dbt. Advanced predictive and prescriptive analytics modeling knowledge is a plus.

• Good leadership experience, including managing teams of engineers who report directly to you.
